I have had a great repair experience with an outfit in Long Island called In House Service Company. I sent them my cherished Sansui G-22000 receiver and they carefully diagnosed the problem, repaired it and the price was very reasonable. Remember that these aging amps deserve to have a good maintenance done to keep them in top shape. You could called Wayne at this place and describe the problem, I'm sure he can tell you whether it's repairable within reasonable $$$. Their number is (631) 751-1803. Since I've had a good experience, I feel they deserve my referral...Good luck with you Sansui!!

: The idea about it being related to the glue is something I havent heard before but I think its sounds like a very plausible idea. Especially if the protector light seems to flash more often when the weather is very humid (the humidity in the room affecting the glue inside the amp)
: Someone else wrote to me in an email a while back and suggested to check these things when the protector light flashes:
: 1. DC on the output caused by fault in the output stage.
: 2. Shorted transistor in the protection circuit, either in the output
: stage or relay drive/protection circuit.
: 3. Open capacitor in the protection circuit causing false tripping of
: the protection circuit.
: 4. Open or high value emitter resistor.
