: John,

: I'm not sure from your wording what you're trying to ask. Are you wondering if Sansui ever made an 8 track multitrack machine? (such as the company Teac/Tascam, examples Teac 80-8, Tascam 38, 48, 58, and TSR-8). Or are you talking about the 'ol 8 track players, such as found in cars from the early 70's instead of cassette players?

: In the early & mid 70's, Sansui did make some 4 track open reel machines, some were 4 channel models (Sansui QD-5500S) and some were 2 channel (SD-7000 and SD-5000).

: B/F

I know what you mean, but what I am attempting to locate is a 8-Track deck, such as what Akai made (CR-80D, CR-82D). I mean, Sansui was into 4-channel big time, what with their receivers, reel-to-reel's and rear amp's; but why didn't they branch out into the 8-track arena too?
