: Hi Jon:
: Well, its hard to predict ahead of time how a particular Sansui AU amp would sound compared to your receivers. The G-9700 after all, is quite powerful at 200W. The Model Eight is an older model from the earlier part of the 70's. If youre looking to really notice a change in the way your system sounds, you're likely to find it by changing the speakers, rather than the amplifiers. Thats not to say that the JBL's arent good, but in general, most people will hear more before/after sound differences when speakers are changed & compared, rather than the amps/receivers.
: But even so, I am inclined to think that you can probably get somewhat of an improvement with an integrated vs a receiver, as the integrated's design is more focused on its intended function, which is to amplify, and so, there's no extra concerns within the integrated amp's cicuitry about the tuner section.
: Well, if you are curious to try it out, you can perhaps buy a Sansui AU-717 and see how you like it. Or if you are looking for a unit with wattage closer to your G-9700, you might want to check out something like the AU-G99X (160W) if & when one might turn up on Ebay. The good news is that you are not really taking a "plunge" because these units will hold their value, so should you acquire them and then decide for whatever reason you dont want to keep them, you arent stuck - you can easily resell them on Ebay and probably get back your money, or maybe even resell for a little more than what you paid for it.

Thanks, That helps!
