It dates back to the early 70's, Sansui also made the Model Eight Deluxe, Eight, and Seven. I have a Model Eight in my Sansui collection. You can see some messages about these receivers in the archived messages in the 'Exclusively Sansui' forum over at www.audiokarma.org
