Problems with Sansui G7500?

Just bought one of these, and in a word - Wow. Took it to my dads (he has better speakers than I, though they are not great) and we were speachless. Only problem is that you can really hear the lousy CD's now. Before, couldn't tell the difference on his fairly pricey DENON. Anyways two glitches. At first, when we put balance dial to far right, the right channel cut out almost completely. After a few repeats and or amp warmed up, no problem. Second, we inadvertantly pulled extension cord while playing a CD and when we powered up, we lost left channel for a couple of minutes and then it suddenly came on again.
Does this sound like a serious problem or could it be a protection circuit that reset? Finally, what is the most economical way of significantly improving FM reception.
