: : Hi B/F, thanks for the reply. The AU-D11II was sold to me as 'brand new' (i.e. never used). On inspection, I was clearly able to see that there is not even so much as a fingerprint on it. Superficially, it's in MINT condition. It was found in a spare room following a family bereavement, so I'm told, (and I've no reason to think otherwise) and appeared never to have had a plug on it, so it looks as though it's never been used at all. It's obviously had a twenty year stretch of complete inactivity. For this reason, I feel that the seller genuinely knew nothing of the amp's condition and he pointed out he was selling it on behalf of the family. I got the impression he was genuine. To answer your other question, if I try it on only speakers A or B, the same thing happens after a while. I also notice a difference in terms of how each external device affects it. The CD (nakamichi MB-3s), turntable (sansui P50), tuner (Sansui T60L) and tape deck (sansui SC-3100G) all run with varying degrees of success - The tape deck, least so. Looks like I'm going to my local Hi-Fi repair shop then?

: Hey. Just dug mine out of the dust. No dust really. I have D11 in great condition, and have experienced the same problems. A suggestion, that seemed to help on this end - adda fan. Something in there gets hot, I guess the top vents don't work. Blow air into it, and it stays cool, and on. Hopefully this helps. Plz respond. Gotta love the old beasts. Have a pair of Sansui s-1130 towers running - should I go shopping yet?

Hey Jeff - Cheers for the tip. Well, I must confess that i'm ready to sell... I just gotta have reliability and I don't know where to go to get the problem sorted. I sure will be sorry to see it go though as I thought I'd found my dream amp. Thinking of going for a NAD C372. (Yeah I KNOW! Well, my faith's been dented). Reckon that'll get my SP7300 and SPX7000 speakers a-pumpin' though... Take it eezee.. Gav.
