IMO, it's a fine rcvr. Don't have one never owned one. It was 2nd only to the 7000 in the 1000-7000 series. Probrbly 65 w/rms per ch or so. nice styling, frt pnl, dial, lighting. diff in A vs X Probably in cosmetics, tuning knob location etc. Otherwise same o same o. Wish I had one. Have a 2000x and 7000.
