I am also getting this message, trying to make a DVD of a tape of home movies (they are not copyrighted). It varies, but it will ineviatably get anywhere from just a few minutes into the video, and it will quit with the c254 message, or it'll last up to about an hour before doing it. Never in the same spot twice.
I do not know the manufacturer of the video tape.
Can anyone help?
