Hi Daniel:
Congratulations on acquiring this nice model. I am interested in obtaining one myself. The model dates to the late 80's- simply check if it has the newer style Sansui logo on the front- the new logo went into effect by the Company in late '87. Otherwise- the 3rd digit (going left to right)in the serial # in the back gives you the year it was manufactured by Sansui- thus 8 means 198->8 (1988) for example. The List Price was in the $800-900 range back then.
Especially interesting is that it has Balanced Outputs (the 3 pin connector type, also called xlr or canon connectors). If you had a Sansui AU-X901 integrated amp which has Balanced Inputs, you could connect the cd player directly to the integrated amp using the Balanced connection. Of course you'd need to buy the balanced xlr cables, but its well worth it, using the balanced connection instead of the regular rca-type jacks theoretically is said to produce superior sound quality.
